Dawn at Swinsty Reservoir
A digital jouney from a 6am Spring morning photograph to an experiment using mixed media.
Dawn at Swinsty reservoir - a digital journey
The photograph
Taking an image right through to finally applying 'real' media such as oil or acrylic is time consuming but magical transformations often happen along the way. The original photgraph was a good result in its own right and one of my most rewarding, with wonderful early morning light creating dramatic hues on the water.
Sensitive help from Photoshop
The first transformation took place using Photoshop to adjust contrast in specific areas to prepare it for its second series of fine changes using 'Painter' (with the digital tablet)
The digital easel
Now came the progression through the digital stages, where the sky and water is experiments with. From here the image was printed on canvas and wrapped. Its size was over a metre wide.
Real media adds texture and substance
The image then went through its final transformation with acrylics textures and effects being added, rmetakllic elelements and 3D montage in the foreground.
This painting is for sale and can be viewed in the Coach House Gallery, Wakefield.
